about me

Inge Apon

––––––

In 1991, I graduated from the Erasmus University Law School in Rotterdam. A year later I completed my European Master’s Degree in Law & Economics, after studying in Rotterdam, Ghent and Madrid. Subsequently, I worked as a Dutch attorney in the international law firm Nauta Dutilh and as an in-house legal counsel for multinationals Aon and Shell.

From 2002 until 2005, I lived in New York City, where I expanded my knowledge of the English language and studied at the International Center of Photography. Over the years, photography, art, literature, writing, reading and language have always played an important role in my life.

In 2017, I decided to make a career switch and started studying English Translation at the ITV Hogeschool voor Tolken & Vertalen (University of Applied Sciences for Interpreting & Translation) in Utrecht. I completed this four-year BA program in 2.5 years, with good results. Since then, I have turned my love of language, and the English language in particular, into my new profession.

As a translator, my approach is pro-active. I can analyze complex matters quickly and know that clear wording is key. Clients receive well-readable translations that are aligned with the style and tone of the source text.

I am a member of the Dutch association for translators and interpreters, the Nederlands Genootschap voor Tolken en Vertalers (NGTV).
